All hallows eve
Halloween is a nickname for what was originally a party to celebrate the coming of All Saints Day on November 1. More recently Halloween has taken on darker and scarier thematic elements along with a more commercialized focus on decorations, candy and parties. At GRACE After School, our goal on October 31 is to provide a safe and fun alternative for neighborhood youth to choose instead of the typical street activities that occur.
2012 was our 3rd year producing the All Hallows Eve Festival, and we had over 100 visitors from the neighborhood. They participated in a Cemetery of Saints Scavenger Hunt, Carnival Games, and Crafts. Because of generous donations from the church community and the neighborhood, we were able to provide food, drinks, halloween prizes, candy, and lots of fun for everyone who attended.
