Visitors! Tapestry Charter School 2nd & 3rd Grades
Over the past year GRACE has had a relationship with some of the classes at Tapestry Charter School. One of the school's several visits was an effort to continue building that relationship through a tour of the garden and other community projects around GRACE After School and Grace Community Church. Markeith, Hector, Luis, Edualiz, Zane, and several others from the after school program helped inform our visitors on the contributions they have made over the past year to the community garden behind the church. Our goal was to show the students from Tapestry that our work is a community effort and that it is essential to keep it that way in order for it to work. They were great listeners and had a great time meeting us, finding out how they could help, and spending part of their school day outside in the sunshine! Thanks for coming Tapestry!
visitors! Corning Mennonite Church
About two weeks after our last group came to share with us we had another group from Corning Mennonite Church come for a few days to offer a time of fun learning on spring break. Focusing on the story of Jesus walking on the water, our friends from Corning showed us how important it is to learn from Jesus' example to help each other. Through acting, song, crafts, and a parachute game outside that we all loved, we learned that with God's help we can help each other and our community.
Visitors! The First Chinese Church of Ithaca
A large group from The First Chinese Church of Ithaca came to help out for a whole week at GRACE After School. Bringing their own ideas and lessons the group of15 young and eager people came to share with our neighborhood. They helped us learn more about Jesus through songs, crafts, games, and lessons. We LOVE when people act with servant hearts. Thank you!
visitors! Upper Arlington Lutheran Church
High School students from Columbus, OH came to Buffalo during their spring break (and ours!) to engage the neighborhood through work projects and fun with GRACE After School students. They installed and finished a new hardwood floor for the church sanctuary, they made crafts and bracelets with our students, they played sports and games with them, and they helped us kick start some urban farming projects in the neighborhood with 5 Loaves Farm.
This team of students worked hard, had a lot of fun, and served our community with a great attitude.
